The Indian women’s hockey team will face hosts England in their third match of the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham. The Indians have been in fine form so far, winning both of their opening matches in a convincing manner. Against Wales on Saturday, the team recorded 3-1 victory, which saw goals from Gurjit Kaur and Vandana Katariya. The latter scored a brace in what was a match winning performance. Wales did mount a final charge in the last quarter of the match but the Indian defense stood its ground for a fine victory in the end.
Things will not be easy against England, however, as the hosts are in tremendous form themselves. The three lionesses routed Ghana 12-0 on Saturday in a match that saw eight different scorers. Defender Grace Balsdon and forward Hannah Martin scoring hat-tricks.
