The inaugural edition of the LIV Golf Invitational series’ culminated with the Team Championship tournament held in Miami on October 30, 2022. Dustin Johnson’s 4Aces, the top seed in the competition, clinched the team championship. Johnson had also claimed the individual competition with a 16th-place finish at the LIV Golf Invitational Bangkok 2022. In addition to winning a stunning $18 million (£16.2 million), Johnson along with Pat Perez, Patrick Reed, and Talor Gooch shared a $16 million winner’s purse. It was their fifth team victory of the inaugural season of the LIV Golf Tour.

However, it is rumored that the skipper is already planning to reshuffle his 4 Aces squad. According to ESPN, Gooch is being traded for Peter Uihlein, who has been playing for Brooks Koepka’s Smash GC this season. Uihlein is a former World No. 1 amateur who won the US Amateur in 2010. In contrast to Gooch, who won the 2021 RSM Classic, Uihlein has never claimed a PGA Tour victory. Since then, he has only won once on the DP World Tour at the 2013 Madeira Islands Open. Gooch also had a decent maiden season at LIV by finishing 11th overall.

Johnson had an outstanding first season at the Saudi-sponsored series as he collected an astounding £30.7 million over eight events. In September, he won his first LIV Golf event in Boston and finished outside the top 10 only once in seven individual events. The golfer took home around $35 million in prize money from the series.  According to rumors, the golfer, who has a net worth of $100 million, received a signing bonus of roughly $67 million to join LIV. Following the transfer, he was named the Most Valuable Player, dominating the money standings list and winning both the Individual and Team Championships.
