Rio Ferdinand has revealed two options that Manchester United should make a move for before the end of the summer transfer window. It comes despite the fact that Man United head coach Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has already made two high profile signings in the form of Jadon Sancho and Raphael Varane. Meanwhile the Red Devils finished second in the last English Premier League season and are now desperate to win the title for the first time since 2013. And Ferdinand believes there are two “perfect” options to buy this month before the transfer window shuts- Saul Niguez and Declan Rice.

Solskjaer is still searching for his first silverware as the boss of Manchester United. The Red Devils reached the Europa League final and finished 12 points behind Premier League champions Manchester City in the previous season.

Meanwhile, this time around, the team looks to be in good shape to challenge for the title. The arrival of Varane has provided the much needed defensive solidity to the Red Devils. And also the French centre-back’s big game experience was something which the team lacked in the last campaign.

Sancho, the 21-year-old attacker, is already considered as one of the most exciting prospects in world football. He was signed from Borussia Dortmund for a deal worth 85 million euros.

Niguez could be a very good option – Rio Ferdinand

However, for winning a title you need to have good depth in the squad. Therefore Solskjaer has plans to sign more players before the summer transfer window shuts. And for that they first have to sell a number of their players as the squad is already largely bloated.

Former United defender Ferdinand, who is now very much active as a football pundit, has said that Niguez and Rice could be the perfect signing for the Red Devils.

“I think if the right player becomes available for the right price, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will go and get him,” Ferdinand told his FIVE YouTube channel.

“The problem is who is out there and who could be a good fit? Saul Niguez would be a perfect fit and he’s asking price was £160m a couple of years ago, now it’s more like £40-50m.

“In today’s game that’s a decent price for someone like him who has Champions League experience. I’m a big fan of his. If you can get him in this window, I think you do it.”

Declan Rice would be ‘massive’

“I think Declan Rice would be a massive addition to this squad. I’m a massive fan of his. I would love to see him keep progressing.

“He was brilliant for England in the summer. I think if West Ham keep him they’ve done unbelievably well. I think he does well staying at West Ham or if he goes.”

Niguez is an exceptionally hard working midfielder, who played a pivotal role in Atletico Madrid’s La Liga triumph last season.

The 26-year-old Spanish international made 41 appearances for Diego Simeone’s side last season in all competitions.

He is a busy player who has the energy to run the length of the field for 90 minutes. What’s more, he is not very prone to injuries. Therefore he could be a very good long term investment for the Red Devils.
