Kaoru Mitoma is a winger for Premier League side Brighton and the Japanese national team. Since his first season in the J league, Mitoma has demonstrated his talent. In November 2021, Mitoma, received his first call-up to the Japan senior team. He made his debut, coming on as a substitute in a 1–0 win over Oman. In a 2-0 victory over Australia in a World Cup qualification match on March 24, 2022, Mitoma scored his first two goals for Japan. After this victory, Japan’s qualifying for the FIFA World Cup 2022 was secured.
Mitoma was selected on November 1 to represent Japan in the 26-man team for the FIFA World Cup in 2022. He contributed to Tanaka’s game-winning goal against Spain in the last group match, which helped Japan advance as group winners to the round of 16.
