The UEFA Euro Qualifier between Romania and Andorra will occur at the National Arena on Monday at 12:15 am IST.
On Sunday, Romania will welcome Andorra at the National Arena for the UEFA Euro Qualification. The Romanians will look to bounce back from the sudden draw they faced against Belarus. Edward Iordanescu’s men have gone seven games without defeat in the Euro qualifiers, winning thrice. Subsequently, they will look to leapfrog to the top spot in Group I if Switzerland fail to beat Belarus in an earlier kickoff. Meanwhile, Andorra failed to stop the rot on Thursday, as they suffered a 3-0 loss to Kosovo at home. The Tricolours have gone 10 games without a win across competitions. Andorra has lost 7 games on the trot since a 2-0 win over Liechtenstein in September 2022.
The Romanians have dominated in the games which they have played but have not been convincing which has cost them their matches. However, they have failed to churn out wins in the previous 5 matches. The Tricolours have just one win while they have 4 draws. Nevertheless, Edward Iordanescu’s team are still undefeated in Group I together with Switzerland. But given the form of Romania, one has to wonder whether the team has rather overperformed or underperformed in the qualification for Euro 2024.
On the other hand, Andorra languishes at the bottom of the table after a 3-0 home defeat to Kosovo. The Andorrans have just two points after seven games. Against a better Kosovar side, the Andorrans were completely outclassed during the 90 minutes. This also throws a light on the huge gulf of talent in their national team. Koldo Alvarez’s side have gone without a goal in their last three matches. This includes a 3-0 defeat away to Switzerland and a goalless draw at home to Belarus. It will be Andorra’s fifth attempt to score against Romania. The Andorrans have failed to score in their last four meetings and have conceded a total of 12 goals.
Romania’s probable starting lineup: Moldovan, Ratiu, Dragusin, Burca, Bancu, Screciu, Marin, Stanciu, Morutan, Dragus, Mihaila
Andorra‘s probable starting lineup: Alvarez, Rubio, Vales, Ortega, Nicolas, Cervos, Rebes, Vales, Fernandez, Alaez, Fernandez
