Born in Viterbo, Italy, Leonardo Bonucci is a terrific center back who plays for Juventus and the Italy national team. He began his career as a professional football player with Inter Milan back in 2005. After playing for Treviso and Pisa on loan he then played for Bari in Apulia. In 2010 he was signed by Juventus for his extraordinary defending skills where he played along with Giorgio Chiellini and Andrea Barzagli. This Juventus defensive back three were unbeatable and is still considered as one of the best defense of all time. In the span of 5 years between 2012 and 2017, Bonucci won six consecutive Serie A titles for Juventus.

After a successful streak at Juventus he went to AC Milan in 2017 only to come back to Juventus a season later. He then went on to win 2 consecutive Serie A titles for Juventus in 2018 and 2019. 

For his national team, Bonucci won the Euro Cup 2020 very recently with over 110 total appearances for Italy. Bonucci also received a runner up medal at Euro 2012. 

With his accuracy at long passes and good aerial qualities he is a solid attacking defender. He is a great asset during set pieces and a real threat on counter attacks. 

Club and International debut

Inter Milan: Bonucci was loaned out to Inter Milan by his hometown club Viterbese in 2005. He made his debut in Inter shirt in a 2-2 away draw against Cagliari on 14^th May 2006. Inter then officially bought Leonardo Bonucci on 7 July 2006. 

Italy: Bonucci has represented Italy at the youth level for U20 as well as U21 group. His first time representing the nation was on 6 November 2007 even though he was on the bench for U20 on 31 May 2007. Bonucci was called up for the Italy senior team in 2010 in a friendly game against Cameroon. His brilliant performances in 2009-10 season resulted in receiving a spot for representing Italy in the 2010 FIFA World Cup.  

Notable Statistics

Juventus signed Bonucci for 15.5million euros on July 1 2010. He went on to have a great dynamic with the other Juventus center back, Giorgio Chiellini. The defensive pair of Chiellini and Bonucci is said to be one of the best defenses in football. 

In 2017, Bonucci was signed by AC Milan for a transfer fee of 42million euros. After appearing for 51 games in AC Milan shirt, he came back to Juventus in 2018.
