Career Achievements

Leonardo Bonuuci is a regular Italian international and has over 100 caps for the Italy national team. Along with his club captain, Giorgio Chiellini, he has formed a rock-solid defence for Italy and that played a key part in the famous Italian triumph of Euro 2020. Boasting an impressive trophy cabinet, Bonucci has also won several individual honours. Multiple Serie A team of the year appearances, a FIFPro World XI appearance, one Serie A defender of the year award, Bonucci possesses a rich individual trophy cabinet. Leonardo Bonucci vs Giorgio Chiellini

Two pillars of Italian and Juventus’ defence for several years now, Bonucci and Chiellini have always found themselves being compared with each other. Although, two very different types of players, they have had a very crucial impact on Italian football. In fact, in a period when Italian football has seen its fair share of lows, both of these have been amazingly consistent. Chiellini is more of an old-fashioned defender with hard tackling one of his key traits while Bonucci is a proper ball-playing defender with the ability to launch attacks with long passes. It hence is very difficult to pick out a clear winner between the two.

Leonardo Bonucci vs Sergio Ramos

Ramos and Bonucci are two of the modern-day great defenders. Hailing from contrasting cultures, both have been at the top of the game for multiple campaigns now. Even though, their best days are behind them now with age finally catching up with them, their splendid performances over the years can’t be ignored. Their rivalry was undoubtedly at its peak in 2017 when Juventus came up against Real Madrid in the final of the Champions League with Madrid emerging victorious. Bonucci even praised Ramos as the best centre back in the world later that year. Keeping in mind collective and individual achievements, Ramos has enjoyed a more illustrious career than his Italian counterpart.

Leonardo Bonucci vs Gerard Pique

Bonucci and Pique are two very similar footballers with their key strengths being their prowess with the ball and their ability to play from the back. Pique has been the backbone of Barcelona’s defence for several years now and has enjoyed multiple honours. Bonucci on the other hand, has been a key figure in Italian football with amazing displays. The pair have come up against each other multiple times for both club and country and the matchups have never disappointed. Although, Pique has been regarded as one the most decorated footballers of all time and hence is a level above Bonucci overall.
