AC Milan beat Juventus 3-0 at Turin to push them out of the top four. Brahim Diaz opened the scoring for Milan just before the end of half time. Ante Rebic extended the lead late in the second half with a fantastic long ranger. Fikayo Tomiri completed the thrashing with the third goal. Franck Kessie missed a penalty for Milan in the second half. The win will certainly strengthen their Champions League qualification chances.

Diaz scored the first goal of the match with a beautiful curler from inside the box in the first-half injury time. Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny’s weak punch from a Hakan Calhanoglu free-kick went straight to Diaz. The Spanish footballer curled the ball with a right-footed shot into the top corner of Juventus’ goal.

Rebic made it 2-0 with a thumping shot from outside the box in the 78th minute. Four minutes after the goal, Fikayo Tomori headed in from a Calhanoglu free-kick to score the third Milan goal of the night.

“We had a great game, a victory over a direct rival at this moment in the championship is very important,” said Milan coach Stefano Pioli. “We still have to fight. But I have a very young team, that is maturing as this evening proved.”

Juventus totally outplayed

Juventus goalkeeper Szczesny saved a penalty of Kessie in the 58th minute following Giorgio Chiellini’s hand ball and VAR check.

The victory helps AC Milan into the third spot with 72 points from 35 games. They are level on points with second-placed Atalanta. They are two points ahead of fourth-placed Napoli. The loss pushed Andrea Pirlo’s team into the fifth spot with 69 points from 35 games. Four teams in the top five are fighting for the three remaining European spots with as many games remaining. Inter Milan has already won the League title.

In another match of the day, Atalanta beat relegated Parma 5-2 at Ennio Tardini to boost their Champions League qualification chances for a third consecutive season. AS Roma also thrashed bottom placed Crotone 5-0 at home courtesy of a double from Pellegrini and Mayoral.
