Istanbulspor’s 3-1 loss to Fenerbahce in the Turkish Cup last week marked their return to competitive play, forcing them to concentrate completely on their fight to stay in the top division. Prior to the World Cup break, they had dropped six straight league games, and their losing streak increased to seven games when they were defeated 2-1 by Galatasaray on Sunday. Galatasaray led by two goals after the first half thanks to goals from Bafetimbi Gomis and Mehmet Yesil; Istanbulspor’s goal in the 82nd minute was too little, too late.
