In-form Kerala Blasters will face a stern challenge when they face Jamshedpur FC in the Indian Super League (ISL) fixture at Tilak Maidan on Sunday. Blasters are unbeaten in six games and are coming into the match on the back of two consecutive 3-0 victories against Mumbai City FC and Chennaiyin FC. Meanwhile Jamshedpur FC who are placed one place above Blasters in the table at third spot, shared the spoils in a 0-0 draw against Bengaluru FC in their previous match.

Blasters have been spectacular this season. After a 4-2 defeat to ATK Mohun Bagan in the opening match, they haven’t lost any games and have collected 12 points from six matches. The Yellow Army’s most impressive result has been the 3-0 thrashing of leaders Mumbai City. The defending champions were simply outplayed by the team from Kerala.

Blasters boss Ivan Vukomanovic’s game plans have been spot on. The Kerala-based team has been playing a high pressing game. The fitness levels of the squad seems to be very high. The likes of Jeakson Singh, Puitea, Adrian Luna and Sahal Abdul Samad have been so good in continuously putting pressure on the opposition midfielders.

Sahal has risen to the expectations and has been brilliant this season. The 24-year-old who had scored just one goal prior to the 2021-22 season, has netted three times in seven appearances this campaign, including one each in the last two games.

Meanwhile Jeakson has been another Indian who is doing a brilliant job for the Yellow Army. The 20-year-old defensive midfielder was impressive against Chennaiyin, covering more than 10 kilometers, winning 100% of tackles and making 4 interceptions.

Unlike the previous seasons,. The foreigners have been doing a great job for Vukomanovic’s side. Forwards Jorge Diaz and Alvaro Vazquez have scored 3 goals each, while playmaker Luna has registered 3 assists and a goal. And two back-to-back clean sheets means that the team is solid at the back.

On the other hand, Jamshedpur has also been doing great, they have the same number of points as Blasters (12). A win will take either team level on points with leaders Mumbai City FC, who have a game in hand.

Blasters players have played at a very high level: Coyle

Best player in the Jamshedpur side has been Greg Stewart. The Scottish footballer has got 4 goals and assists to his name and teams have been struggling to handle the big man. He has got great vision, passing ability and good dribbling skills.

Jamshedpur boss Owen Coyle said “They have wonderful foreigners, their offensive players. Vazquez and the strikers played at a very high level, Diaz is a very good player, Luna, very clever, they’ve all played at a very high level and young Sahal Samad is an offensive player who is pleasing on the eye, quick and can score a goal, can create a goal.”

The England tactician added “ They’ve got dangerous players and they’re a dangerous team and that’s the thing, it’s not about the individuals alone but they work very hard as a team and they will be very dangerous opponents, tough opponents. It’s a game that we’re looking forward to, giving utmost respect.”

Both sides are likely to cancel each other out in the midfield, therefore chances might be few and far between and the team which takes their chances would come out on top.
