Hyderabad FC goalkeeper Anuj Kumar joins Aizawl FC on loan

The 23-year-old has been a part of Hyderabad FC since its inception and spent the last season on loan with Real Kashmir.

Promising young Hyderabad FC goalkeeper Anuj Kumar is set to join I-League side Aizawl FC on loan for the upcoming 2021-22 campaign, the club announced on Saturday. The 23-year-old has been a part of Hyderabad FC since its inception and spent the last season on loan with Real Kashmir, where he was a part of the side that won the IFA Shield. He also featured for the Snow Leopards en route to their fifth-place finish in the I-League. “Anuj will now continue his progress with the 2017 I-League champions, as he aims to add valuable experience to his game in a competitive I-League. Hyderabad FC will keep a close eye on his progress and wishes him the best for the upcoming season,” a club statement read.

Recently, Indian Super League side Hyderabad FC added further strength to their backline by completing the signing of left-back Pritam Soraisam. “I’m very happy and very excited to have signed for Hyderabad FC. I will give my very best for the team in our push to achieve our targets,” said the 25-year-old Manipuri defender after completing formalities.

Pritam, who is a former India international at the U19 level, began his career with Sambalpur Football Academy before making his I-League debut with Shillong Lajong where he established himself as a regular. In the Indian Super League, he has featured for Kerala Blasters.

Speaking on playing under Manolo Marquez, Pritam added, “I’m very excited and can’t wait to train under our coach Manolo. I have seen all of the games from last season and I really love the team’s playing style. At HFC, we have a very young and energetic squad and I hope we can push ourselves to achieve a lot this season.”

Previous signings

Twenty-one-year-old Gurmeet Singh is another promising youngster who will join Manolo Marquez’s side for the upcoming campaign. A talented goalkeeper, he has spent the last three seasons with NEUFC and will look to provide more competition for a place in between the posts in the first team. He featured eight times for the Highlanders last season keeping two clean sheets.

“I am grateful to the club for providing me this opportunity. As a young player, seeing others my age flourish here makes this a really important project for me,” said Gurmeet. “It is a very important season for us at Hyderabad FC. We will look to build on the campaign last season and I am sure we as a team are ready for the challenges,” he added.

Earlier, Chinglensana Konsham had signed a new long-term deal with Hyderabad FC. The 24-year-old defender, who joined HFC in September 2020, has penned a four-year contract that keeps him at Hyderabad till the end of the 2024-25 season. “Knowing the positive atmosphere at the club, and admiration from the fans that enjoy and love football, it feels great to extend my contract at Hyderabad FC,” said Chinglensana.
