The World Cup in Qatar will feature matches in a total of eight stadiums. All of the stadiums have been newly built and will be used for the first time on a worldwide stage because it is the first time the nation will host a significant international competition. The knockout round matches will be played at all World Cup venues for the first time ever. Let’s have a look at the Al Bayt Stadium.
The Al Bayt Stadium is a retractable roof stadium, so as to provide covered seating for all the spectators. Its capacity is around 60,000 making it one of the largest capacity wise in the country. It has received lots of plaudits and applauses for its sustainable design and construction. The stadium was inaugurated at the end of November, 2021 and hosted the final of the FIFA Arab Cup 2021.
According to the 2022 FIFA World Cup fixture list, Al Bayt Stadium is scheduled to host nine matches throughout the tournament. Most significantly, it will be hosting the opening match of the campaign between the hosts, Qatar and Ecuador. It will be a moment of great pride for the stadium and those associated with it. Other than the opener, a round of 16 game along with a quarter final and semi final will also be played at the Al Bayt Stadium.
