It was a forgettable afternoon for most of Brighton and Hove Albion’s Fantasy assets, and this included Pervis Estupinan, who finished Gameweek 7 with -2 points. The 25-year-old began the match promisingly with an early run into the box, but he seemed uncomfortable while defending against Diaby. Unfortunately, he scored an own goal that extended Villa’s lead to 3-0. Consequently, he was substituted at half-time, with Tariq Lamptey (3.9 million) taking his place at left-back.

Regarding Brighton, they continue to struggle in keeping clean sheets this season, with their expected goals conceded (xGC) total of 11.75 placing them 13th among all top-flight clubs. Elsewhere, substitute Ansu Fati (6.5 million) revived the visitors’ hopes by scoring in the second half. However, Kaoru Mitoma (6.6 million) failed to capitalize on good positions out wide, resulting in a blank for him in the match.

“We played a very bad game, without energy, mental energy. We can lose badly, but we can’t lose every duel, every second ball. The biggest responsibility is mine because I am the coach. We have to adapt this season. It is totally different to last season. It is very tough; we’re playing every three days.” – Roberto De Zerbi

Haaland Blanks

Manchester City’s perfect start to the league came to an end when they suffered a 2-1 defeat against Wolverhampton Wanderers on Saturday. The match featured a brilliant free-kick by Julian Alvarez (7.0 million), an own goal by Ruben Dias (5.5 million) and a winning goal by Hwang Hee-chan (5.4 million), showcasing the hosts’ effective counter-attacking ability.

Wolves managed to score two goals from only three goal attempts, which collectively had an expected goals (xG) value of 0.47. The loss also marked a rare scoreless performance for Erling Haaland, who was chosen as the captain by over 7.8 million managers in Gameweek 7. He had limited opportunities to take shots, with just one registered attempt on goal.

“It is not easy when he has three players. There are a lot of players there, it’s not easy but it happened.” – Pep Guardiola on Erling Haaland

It’s important to note that the champions have now been defeated in both matches in the absence of Rodri, who is set to serve the last game of his suspension when they face Arsenal in Gameweek 8.

“Congratulations Wolves, they played really well. We had our own moments – I don’t count the last 10 or 15 minutes as it was more difficult. We didn’t properly do our process to attack with a bit more fluidity and that was why we struggled a little bit. In the transitions, Neto was better than us. They beat us in that position not because we were disorganised, but they were better in that position that we could defend well. It was a difficult game to play we knew it and they played really well and congratulations.” – Pep Guardiola
