Eintracht Frankfurt will continue their preparations for the 2023-24 Bundesliga campaign with a pre-season friendly against Vitesse at Untersberg-Arena on Thursday. The Unterberg-Arena is home to SV Grödig and FC Liefering. This will be the first meeting of both clubs. Eintracht Frankfurt will enter into the match on the back of a 3-2 win over Fulda on Wednesday. On the other hand, Vitesse is coming with a defeat against Stuttgart with a scoreline of 2-1. Talking about their league progress, Eintracht Frankfurt is still in the Bundesliga. However, Vitesse has been relegated from the Eredivisie which is the top tier of Dutch football.
Talking about injury concerns, Eintracht Frankfurt will start with three crucial misses in the game. The experienced centre-forward Lucas Alario, centre-back Hrvoje Smolcic and right-wing forward Ansgar Knauff. Smolcic will be out of action till the early part of August due to a meniscus injury. Knauff will be out of action till the middle part of August due to a broken collarbone. However, experienced centre-forward Lucas Alario will be out till early August due to a knee injury. The absence of Lucas Alario may not dent Eintracht Frankfurt’s chance of winning the match. In the absence of Alario, Randal Kolo Muani will take his place. On the other side, there is no injury concern in the Vitesse camp. The Dutch team is expected to field a full squad.
Eintracht will enter the new season after losing out on a golden opportunity to win the DFB Pokal. The last two games were also not that great for the German side. However, things are not that great for Vitesse also. The Dutch team has already been relegated from Eredivisie and was also defeated by Stuttgart. It will be interesting to see who has the last laugh on Thursday.
