When Antalyaspor takes on high-flying Fenerbahce at Antalya Stadyumu on Tuesday night, they will be attempting to record their first Turkish Super Lig victory since the league resumed play following the World Cup break.

After a month-long hiatus, Antalyaspor’s Turkish Super Lig campaign has started in a concerning manner after suffering back-to-back 2-0 losses to struggling Ankaragucu and title-chasing Istanbul Basaksehir. Due to those two defeats, Nuri Sahin’s team has dropped to 14th place in the league rankings, just one point ahead of Hatayspor, who currently hold the top two relegation spots. The goal in Antalya is to advance and compete with the top clubs in Turkish football after finishing seventh the previous season, but consistency is keeping the club from achieving those goals.
Fenerbahce beat relegation-threatened Hatayspor at home last time out to cap off 2022 in style, venting their anger over their defeat to Trabzonspor away just over a week prior. Attackers Michy Batshuayi, Joshua King, and Serdar Dursun each scored goals in the 4-0 triumph, and Brazilian defender Gustavo Henrique added his second of the year. The 29-year-old has been enjoying life at the centre of Fenerbahce’s defence since joining on loan from Flamengo in the summer.
Due to the Algerian’s forced departure from the game against Istanbul Basaksehir after just 27 minutes, Antalyaspor will be without the services of the winger on Tuesday night. Sam Larsson, who is hoping to make his eighth Super Lig start since joining from Dalian Professional back in July, is the obvious choice to replace Ghacha in the starting XI.
Due to a knee injury, Joao Pedro, an Italian who has scored just one goal in the Super Lig this season, will miss Fenerbahce’s trip to Antalya. It will be up to Batshuayi and King to score the goals once more as Valencia has only played off the bench since returning from the World Cup and did not even make the matchday roster in the last game.
