Who can forget its participation in the British Touring Car Championship during the super touring era in the late 1990s? Then there was Williams’ contribution to the creation of some legendary racing vehicles, such as the Metro 6R4 Group B rally car and the Le Mans-winning BMW V12 LM. But it’s incredible to imagine that Williams’ sole team outside of Formula One has the busiest calendar possible for any motorsport. The official Williams Esports squad participated in more than 600 races in 2022 with more than 45 drivers from 18 different nations on its roster. This team won 14 titles in all categories and finished with more than 70 wins and 170 podium finishes. It’s a serious organisation with seven full-time employees, including an operations manager, team manager, press officer, and television producer.

F1 Esports

Williams has fully committed to its involvement in Esports, unlike several F1 teams who have simply dabbled in it by taking part in the official F1 series. Williams Esports director Steven English explains: “It was a deliberate decision that we were going to be as far reaching as possible. “As you can see, certain F1 teams now have an Esports team, but all they play is F1 Esports, which has three drivers and goes from September to December every year. “We can’t talk to you for just three months and then stop talking to you if we want to achieve our goal of always interacting with our demographic, to have any credibility or any lasting impact in the space.”
