Lando Norris is a British-Belgian racing driver currently competing in Formula One with McLaren, racing under the British flag. He was born on 13 November 1999 in Bristol, to Adam and Cisca Norris. His father is a retired pensions manager, and is one of Bristol’s wealthiest people. His mother Cisca is from the Flanders region of Belgium. He is the second oldest alongside three siblings, with two younger sisters Flo and Cisca, and an older brother Oliver who was also involved in karting on a competitive level. Norris holds both British and Belgian citizenship, and speaks a small amount of Flemish Dutch.
In February 2017, Norris was signed as a junior driver with McLaren. Later that year, Norris tested for McLaren in a scheduled mid-season test. In late 2017, Norris became the official McLaren test and reserve driver for the 2018 season. Norris participated in his first official practice session at the Belgian Grand Prix, recording 26 laps. Norris drove in six further practice sessions during the year. Norris was contracted to drive for McLaren for the 2019 Formula One World Championship, partnering Carlos Sainz Jr. He qualified eighth on his debut at the Australian Grand Prix and finished the race in twelfth place.
As of 2022, Norris’ net worth is likely to be around $25 million. After signing a new contract with McLaren at the start of 2022, but his popularity is a major selling point. The relatively new addition to F1 may only be 22, but Norris has one of the biggest followings in Formula One and he reportedly sold more merchandise than any other driver at the 2021 British Grand Prix. Although Norris is earning vast sums of money himself, he is sitting on a fortune as his family are worth a reported £300m.
Lando Norris signed a contract extension worth $20 million per year which is the biggest move of the year. That puts the 22-year-old ahead of Ferrari star Charles Leclerc and his McLaren team-mate Daniel Ricciardo, according to the reports. With that contract he has joined some of F1’s highest earners and he is just below Max Verstappen and Lewis Hamilton.
