Alpine and AlphaTauri are the two latest teams to reveal the dates of their car launch ahead of the 2022 Formula 1 season.

The French and Italian team finished fifth and sixth, respectively, in the 2021 Formula 1 constructor’s championship and will hope to improve in 2022.

Both teams took to social media to hype up the event and reveal the dates. Alpine F1’s Twitter account posted a video with the caption, “Something’s coming… We’re edging closer to the new era of #Alpine innovation. Save the Date 21.02.22”.

The AlphaTauri F1 account simply tweeted “almost ready to enter a new era of Formula 1. Mark your calendars, the AT03 is coming!” along with a video which revealed 14th February as the launch date.

Alpine and AlphaTauri are now the fifth and sixth teams to have announced their launch dates ahead of the 2022 season.

The first team to do so was Aston Martin, who said the AMR22 will be revealed on February 10.

The second team to have announced their launch date was Ferrari. The Maranello-based side will reveal their 2022 machine on February 17.

The third team to do so was McLaren, whose date was announced on January 17. They will be revealing their new F1 car on February 11.

Mercedes became the fourth team to join this list when they announced that their new-look car would be unveiled on February 18.

How did Alpine and AlphaTauri fare in 2021?

Alpine and AlphaTauri both had high and low points through the season. For Alpine, the high was Esteban Ocon’s shock win at the Hungarian GP. There was also Fernando Alonso’s podium finish in Qatar, which was Alonso’s first since 2014.

However, the car lacked the consistency to be a threat at all venues and thus they struggled at times too.

For AlphaTauri, however, the struggles were more driver-related. Pierre Gasly was in fine form, consistently reaching Q3 in qualifying and finishing among the points.

However, Yuki Tsunoda’s rookie season struggles mean they eventually could not finish higher than sixth in the 2021 season.

The young Japanese driver was thus consistently out-performed by Gasly, who even managed a podium finish in the Azerbaijan GP.
