The sixth episode of the second season of the well-known anime series Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury will not air for a little while. On May 14, the sixth episode of the show will not air; instead, a recap special that reviews the previous five episodes of the season will be broadcast. Before the series resumes its regularly scheduled programming, the recap episode will give fans a refresher. The second season finale of Gundam: The Witch from Mercury airs on May 14.
On April 9 at 5:00 p.m. (4:00 a.m. EDT) on MBS, TBS, and 26 of its affiliate stations in Japan, the second season of Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury debuted. The first season of the anime premiered in Japan in October 2022 on MBS and TBS, airing every Sunday at 5:00 p.m. Additionally, a recap compilation special for the first season aired on November 13, delaying the broadcast of the seventh episode.
Directed by Hiroshi Kobayashi, the anime is produced by Bandai Namco Filmworks/Sunrise, with Ichiro Okouchi credited for series composition and as a scriptwriter. The show features original character designs by Mogumo and character designs for animation by Marie Tagashira, Juro Toida, and Hirotoshi Takaya. The music is composed by Takashi Ohmama, and the anime’s mechanical designers include JNTHED, Kanetake Ebikawa, Wataru Inada, Ippei Gyōbu, Kenji Teraoka, and Takayuki Yanase.
In addition to the recap special, fans of the series can enjoy the prequel episode, Mobile Suit Gundam: The Witch from Mercury – Prologue, which premiered on the Gundam.info YouTube channel outside of Japan on September 1, 2022. The prequel anime also debuted on streaming services in Japan on September 4, and later aired on MBS and TBS on September 25.
To keep fans engaged with the series, the anime’s official website published an English translation of Ichiro Okouchi’s “Cradle Planet” prequel short story on November 10, 2022. The story is told from the point of view of the Gundam Aerial and serves as the basis for the lyrics for YOASOBI’s opening theme song “Shukufuku” (The Blessing) for the anime. The short story was also published on the anime’s Japanese website on October 2, 2022.
