The release of Set 9.5 Horizonbound, Riot Games has unmistakably proven its everlasting dedication to improving the Teamfight Tactics (TFT) experience. The goal of this update is to introduce a number of quality-of-life enhancements throughout a variety of game-related areas, not only the mid-set. Riot Games adds two new areas, a tonne more units, and a major overhaul of the item system in TFT with this mid-set patch. The developer has made it quite apparent what its aims are, saying, “We’re making the significant quality of life changes to our Item system that will leave it in a better state for many sets to come.” TFT Set 9.5 Horizonbound’s Game-Changing Item System Overhaul

The updated item system in TFT includes the addition of six new things, modifications to three already-existing items, the creation of a new category of support items, upgrades to artefact items (formerly known as Ornn Forge things), and much more. Here’s an exhaustive breakdown of the TFT item system update.

Evolution of TFT’s Item System

The key to boosting the skill of your champions in TFT is to use equipment. Building your carry unit with the ideal components is one of the most enjoyable things you can do in the game. Nevertheless, every TFT player has experienced the agony of getting undesirable materials that prevent them from creating the things they require for their selected champions.

Frequently, the more assistance-focused goods like Zephyr and Zeke’s Herald turn out to be the biggest offenders. Although these goods have a lot of strength in the late game, they are useless in the earlier stages, especially Stages 2 and 3. As a result, things like the Giant’s Belt, Negatron Cloak, or Tear of the Goddess don’t retain any appeal. To address this, in Horizonbound, Riot Games has relocated support items into a new “uncraftable category” and introduced fresh items to empower a diverse range of champions.

Riot Games has articulated its primary objectives for the item system overhaul:

  • Simplify Item Categorization: Make it easier for players to understand item categories.
  • Diversify Viable Item Choices: Ensure that every class of champions has a wide array of viable items to build, each offering a broad spectrum of statistics.

New Item Categories in TFT Set 9.5 Horizonbound

The item rework by Riot Games will redefine the TFT item categories as follows:

Core Items

Core items will consist of the standard, craftable items crafted from base components. Each of these items will be tailored to enhance the holder unit in distinct and exciting ways.

Radiant Items

Radiant Items represent enhanced versions of core items, providing even more power and versatility.

Artifact Items

Formerly known as “Ornn Artifact” items, these are uncraftable items that players acquire through Augments.

Support Items

The most recent addition to the item system from Riot Games is Support Items. Uncraftable objects that are primarily designed to support the squad and offer unselfish advantages fall under this category. It contains both recognisable components, such as the Shroud of Stillness and the Locket of the Iron Solari, as well as brand-new additions. Notably, all Support items will have a fixed health rating of 250 and be far stronger than their equivalent Core items. Zephyr and Shroud of Stillness cannot be worn during battle starting with Horizonbound.

However, the new support item class will continue to provide access to these retired things.
