After the news of a new Silent Hill Transmission surfaced over the web, fans were hopeful that it would introduce a new game in the popular franchise. Ever since Kojima Productions’ planned overhaul of the series was scrapped in 2015 and Hideo Kojima exited from Konami, the fans have been left wondering what’s next for them in the series.

While the slightest prospect of getting a new game in the franchise, the first in over 10 years, has gotten Silent Hill enthusiasts excited for the latest announcement, it is now confirmed that it will instead be a remake of a classic entry.

Konami announces Silent Hills 2 remake for PlayStation 5

The Silent Hill Transmission took wraps off a bunch of smaller games including Silent Hill: Townfall alongside an upcoming Silent Hill film. However, the highlight was the announcement of a Silent Hill 2 remake. The upcoming game will be exclusive to PlayStation consoles in the first year, but it will also be available for PC players at release.

While fans of the series might be expecting more than just a remake of a classic, many fans their joy after seeing the classic game getting remade after tow decades after the first installment in the franchise.

Moreover, Konami announced that several original concept artists and composers from the original game would be making a comeback to offer their insights to make the remake a success. As of now, there is no specific launch date set for Silent Hill 2 remake. But we might see an official announcement being made for its launch date and other details.
