TOHO has released a new teaser video for the upcoming anime film Sand Land, based on the manga by Akira Toriyama. The teaser features Beelzebub, one of the characters from the film, complaining about being interrupted in the middle of a game. The other demons then inform him that the trailer for the film has started. Sand Land is set to open in theaters across Japan on August 18.
The film will feature Mutsumi Tamura as Beelzebub, Kazuhiro Yamaji as Rao, Chō as Thief, Satoshi Tsuruoka as General Are, and Nobuo Tobita as General Zau. The film will be directed by Toshihisa Yokoshima, with Hiroshi Koujina serving as the direction advisor. The screenplay will be written by Hayashi Mori. Yoshikazu Iwanami is directing the sound, and Yūgo Kanno is composing the music.
Sand Land is set in a post-apocalyptic future where the Earth has been destroyed by war, leaving behind a barren wasteland where the supply of water is controlled by a greedy king. The story follows Sheriff Rao, who goes on a journey to find a long-lost lake, enlisting the help of Beelzebub, the king of demons, and his assistant, Thief. Together, the trio faces various challenges, including dragons, bandits, and the King’s army itself.

Sand Land was originally serialized in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine from May to August 2000. It was a short series, with only one compiled volume released in November of the same year. Viz Media publishes the manga in English.
