PS VR2 might soon be taking the center stage, but how will virtual reality on PS5 shapes up remains to be seen. There have been a plethora of leaks and rumors, so here’s everything we know about the upcoming PS VR2.
Sony announced PlayStation VR2 just a few months after it said it had no plans for VR on the PS5. Now that everyone is aware of PlayStation VR2’s existence, we will be discussing the company’s plans to bring an updated VR experience to PS5.
Sony hasn’t provided a release date for the PS VR2 yet. As per a report from Bloomberg, Holiday 2022 could be on Sony’s crosshair. If not, then the company might launch it next year and let the PS5 to settle more.
Sony must be hoping to ensure the PS5 stock issues are gone by then, otherwise, they won’t be able to sell as many units as they wished. This stock shortage is expected to last this year but hopefully will end before 2023. While there’s no official date, if this turns out to be true, then it would mean PS VR2 will release in 2023.

Industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo also claimed that production will ramp up during the end of this, with a Q1 2023 launch in mind. As for the price, Sony launched the original PS VR at $399, so players can expect it to be similar for PlayStation VR2, perhaps a bit more for the advanced tech.
On February 22, 2022, the PlayStation Blog showcased the stunning new piece of tech to fans. The redesigned headset looks similar to the original model. According to Sony, the new headset has also been “inspired by the look of the PS5 family of products.”
Sony has confirmed that the PS VR processor will not make a comeback for PlayStation VR2. Instead, the new tech will work with the PS5 console with the help of the USB-C port. Besides, it will feature a 4K display.
