Overwatch 2 Season 4 is all set to “revert” Mercy’s buffs from the previous season after heavy criticism from players. Many fans complained about facing difficulties playing against her, with additional changes made to her movement.

Throughout Season 3, Mercy has seen her fair share of nerfs and buffs in the game. She initially received a nerf at the beginning of the season, bringing her pick rate down. Developers then tried correcting it by giving her a considerable buff in the mid-season patch.

Mercy’s healing was buffed by increasing her heal output on low-health allies, and her movement, despite getting slightly nerfed, still provided her with a lot of sustainability. Mercy also combo’s well with Ana, as her biotic nade essentially made a pocketed hero invulnerable.

Players weren’t happy with Mercy buffs

Players certainly let the developers know there weren’t impressed with the buffs, with many complaining that playing against a Mercy is hard. Blizzard has now decided to rectify the mistakes in Season 4, with a “revert” of the buffs they offered her in Season 3.

Taking feedback from the community gave the developers, Blizzard has decided to backtrack on the buffs after players complained on the difficulty of killing Mercy in Season 3.

“While our goal was to make her healing more engaging when saving low-health allies, her sustainability shifted from her mobility to being able to stay alive through her passive and Valkyrie,” devs said while explaining the initial buffs.

And due to that, they are “reverting these changes.” The new Season 4 tweaks will also come with some improvements to how her Guardian Angel ability works to keep her boosted jump under control.

No specifics were provided to fans from developers

The developers are yet to delve into the specifics on what the changes would mean for her other movement abilities. But we know that her healing will be reverted to the pre-mid season patch numbers.

This could mean Mercy will no longer have boosted healing to low-health allies, making her spot in the Season 4 meta uncertain as that was one of her most powerful assets off late.

Which controllers does Overwatch 2 support?

People looking to play Overwatch 2 with a controller will find themselves lucky: the game allows controllers. In Overwatch 2’s options menu, players can find controller-specific settings that will allow them to adjust the layout exactly how they prefer.

But not every controller in the market will support Blizzard’s FPS title. If players want to play Overwatch 2 with a controller, using an official Xbox Series X|S controller is best. Since Xbox and Windows work belong to the same ecosystem, pairing the controller with a PC is easy.

As soon as the PC detects the controller and players press a button, the game’s interface will automatically swap to button prompts. It’s unknown if Overwatch 2 officially supports XInput, an app that works with Windows and detects Xbox controllers automatically.
