After the rollout of Overwatch 2’s first openly pansexual hero, Lifeweaver, Blizzard announced plans to celebrate Pride Month this year. Niran PruksaManee, aka Lifeweaver, constitutes the latest Support character to join the Overwatch 2 roster. He’s also being described as the brand’s first openly pansexual character, someone whose identity will play a key role throughout in-game interactions.

While other Overwatch heroes, such as Tracer provide queer representation, their backstories in relation to their identities rarely get any mention in-game. For instance, learning about Tracer’s home life with her partner, Emily requires fans to delve into the games’ comics or other forms of cross-media.

It’s understandable since much of the story comes to life outside of the game world. However, members of the games’ LGBTQ+ community feel that a failure to just show a character’s queer identity can endanger toxicity. The developers are addressing these criticisms and more by bringing Lifeweaver to the game.

Pride Month plans teased after Lifeweaver’s reveal

Blizzard developers have confirmed that a Pride Month celebration for Overwatch 2 is in the works. The studio has yet to provide its plans since Pride Month isn’t until June; fans can expect the enws in this month itself.

Depending on what Blizzard has in store for the fans, Overwatch 2’s Pride Month celebration could go a long way in reinforcing the brand’s queer-friendly status. Until then, players can step into the shoes of Lifeweaver when he becomes available during Season 4’s launch on Tuesday, April 11. Details about the new Battle Pass remain a mystery for the time being.

Which controllers does Overwatch 2 support?

People looking to play Overwatch 2 with a controller will find themselves lucky: the game allows controllers. In Overwatch 2’s options menu, players can find controller-specific settings that will allow them to adjust the layout exactly how they prefer.

But not every controller in the market will support Blizzard’s FPS title. If players want to play Overwatch 2 with a controller, using an official Xbox Series X|S controller is best. Since Xbox and Windows work belong to the same ecosystem, pairing the controller with a PC is easy.

As soon as the PC detects the controller and players press a button, the game’s interface will automatically swap to button prompts. It’s unknown if Overwatch 2 officially supports XInput, an app that works with Windows and detects Xbox controllers automatically.
