Recap of the Previous Chapter

The chapter picks off where the last one left off, with Ruby having to put a lie to use in her own life. Ruby begins to consider what lies are and whether acting is one of them. She reflects on the fact that she enjoys performing and that Aqua once predicted her future as an actress. She had been an actress all of her life, after all.

She was awarded the part of Ruby Hoshino, the AI Hoshino’s daughter who overcame the death of her mother to become an admirable role model. She used to portray Sarina Tendouji, a bold and endearing young lady who respected her parents and toiled diligently in a distant location.

She then begins her part, shocking the girls with her description of it as terrible, horrible, heartbreaking, and stupid. Ruby complains that it is so reprehensible, unpleasant, and offensive. She had nightmares about the terrible day her mother passed away. Why was she required to die? She claims to have given it some thought and is afraid of falling in love. She claims that she wants to follow everyone there and pass away. When she abruptly changes character and claims that she was kidding, which was a lie, both females are startled and frozen.

When Frill inquires about Akane’s impression on the acting, she replies that she still needs more work and that with enough repetition, she will be unstoppable. Akane then gets up and declares that she would accept the challenge of portraying what a lie is.

Akane confronts Frill at the end of the chapter and declares that she had always wanted Ruby to take on the part. She explains that today’s audition will choose who will assume the prestigious role of AI Hoshino.
