In the upcoming chapter, Hikaru Kamiki doesn’t have much money so she chooses to ride her bicycle instead of taking the tram. She chats with her friend Ai Hoshiho, teasing each other as weirdos. Even though Hikaru sometimes gets treats from Airi, Ai’s mom, she often argues with Ai and gets hit by her.
Hikaru feels uncomfortable fighting with Airi because she sees her as a source of money. When Ai starts taking better care of herself and making money, she treats Hikaru to nice meals and outings. Despite having some options for extra cash, Hikaru relies on Airi’s generosity, even though she doesn’t like the conflicts that come with it.
In the last chapter, during Aqua’s filming, they carefully shot scenes with Aqua playing Hikaru Kamiki, with Ai standing on a platform to match their heights. Fans of the manga were excited about hints of Seijuurou Uehara’s plans to introduce Ai to Hikaru.
But there was tension because Airi Himekawa didn’t like how close Hikaru and Ai seemed. Things got uncomfortable when Airi got too close to Hikaru, which was awkward because they have a history Hikaru became a father at just 11.
Hikaru’s character in the film is the bad guy, but the writers wanted to show he’s more than just that. They explored why he becomes a serial killer suggesting his relationship with Ai might have been a way to escape Airi’s control and abuse.
