The winners of the 50th Annual Annie Awards have been announced by the International Animated Film Society, ASIFA-Hollywood. California-based studio Tonko House’s Oni: Thunder God’s Tale animated series won two awards. The CGI animations series won Best TV/Media – Limited Series and Best Production Design – TV/Media.
The show also received nominations for Best Character Animation – TV/Media, Best Music – TV/Media, and Best Character Design – TV/Media. The award for the Best Character Animation – TV/Media went to The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and The Horse. Love Death + Robots’ episode “Jibaro” won Best Character Design – TV/Media, and The Cuphead Show received the award for Best Music – TV/Media.
Oni: Thunder God’s Tale and Tatsunoko Production’s Exception anime were both nominated for Best Direction – TV/Media, but lost to The Boy, The Mole, The Fox, and The Horse won the award.
Besides, Studio Trigger’s Cyberpunk: Edgerunners anime received a nomination for Best Storyboarding – TV/Media; however, it lost to Love Death + Robots’ “The Very Pulse of the Machine” episode.
Masaaki Yuasa’s INU-OH received nominations in the Best India Feature and Best Writing – Feature categories. Both awards went to Marcel the Shell with Shoes On. Besides, The Simpsons were also nominated in the Best TV/Media – mature category for its Treehouse of Horror XXXIII episode. The episode hade a parody of Death Note by South Korean animation studio DR Movie. However, the award went to Bob’s Burgers episode “Some Like it Bot Part I.” Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio received five awards, including Best Direction – Feature and Best Feature.

No anime won awards in 2022, 2021, or 2020. the 2020 awards presented late director Satoshi Kon with the prestigious Winsor McCay Award.
Netflix has added all 12 episodes of the TV anime of Reincarnated as a Sword light novel series in India. The streaming previously brought the TV anime of Rui Tsukiyo and Reia’s The World’s Finest Assassin Gets Reincarnated in a Different World as an Aristocrat light novel in India as well.
The anime premiered in Japan in October 2022 and aired for 12 episodes. Ani-One Asia’s TouTube channel started streaming the anime series on Feb 15. It describes the Reincarnated as a Sword anime as:
“I reincarnated as a sword…” After being reincarnated into another world, he is now a sword with wisdom. While seeking someone to become his wielder, he encountered Fran, a young cat-girl slave who was under attack by a monster. She discovered and used the sword to kill the monster. She named the sword Teacher, and the two embark on an adventure together!
