One Punch Man Chapter 186 Summary

In the previous chapters, we saw an intense battle between Genos and the Forest King, a powerful dragon-level monster attacking a city. Genos revealed his new upgrade called the Lightning Core, which allowed him to easily confront and defeat the Forest King. Excited about his progress, Genos asked Saitama, his mentor, for another sparring match, leading them to meet at Saitama’s new apartment in the Hero Association.

While heading to their sparring location, Saitama remarked on the increasing number of monsters lately, comparing it to the difficulty of finding a stag beetle. It was suggested earlier that a being known as God was aware of Saitama removing his limits and was purposely increasing the monster threat as a response to him. This implies that the monsters are either naturally evolving or being created by God to challenge Saitama.

When they reached the fighting area, Genos activated his Lightning Core, emitting a blinding light. However, Saitama seemed unaffected and uninterested in Genos’ power. In a surprising turn, Saitama effortlessly stopped Genos’ punch just inches away from his face. This scene resembled their first sparring match in the anime’s first season when Saitama left a massive dust cloud after his punch. Genos couldn’t imagine reaching Saitama’s level back then, but now, even though he has grown stronger, he still underestimates his own progress and constantly compares himself to Saitama.
