2022 has already seen some video great game releases. Much anticipated FromSoftware game, Elden Ring made an impact, while Horizon Forbidden West came up with a great sequel. Here are some video games players can look forward to as this year:

God of War Ragnarok

The ninth installment in the franchise, God of War Ragnarök will take up from where it left off. The protagonist Kratos returns with his son Atreus, taking on monsters and gods. This time the story sticks to the mythological event of the game. After the events of the last game, players are eager to see if Kratos and Atreus number among that group.

Forspoken

This much-anticipated video game has managed to raise many eyebrows after its teaser trailer came out during a PS5 showcase event. Fluid game mechanics and traversal modes got players intrigued and excited. Forspoken will follow the story of Frey Holland, a modern-day New Yorker who is teleported into a fantasy land called Athia.

Hogwarts Legacy

This game is made for the Potterheads out there. Hogwarts Legacy will enable players to experience what it feels like to be a student at Hogwarts. This is the first large-scale Harry Potter game since LEGO Harry Potter came out in 2011. The gameplay footage shows that the school will be the main setting, with additional areas such as the nearby village of Hogsmeade also available for players to visit.

Lord of the Rings: Gollum

Lord of the Rings: Gollum is set in Tolkien’s legendarium. It is the first game set in Middle Earth after Middle Earth: Shadow of War. Players will step into the shoes of Gollum. It tells the story of when Gollum found the ring and before the events of the movie Hobbit. It’s likely that the plot will create some plot holes and continuity errors.
