Issei Takahashi, who previously played Rohan Kishibe in the live-action series based on Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan (Kishibe Rohan wa Ugokanai), Araki’s spinoff from his JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure manga, reprises the role as previously announced. Takahashi is known for his roles in Whisper of the Heart and the live-action Ikebukuro West Gate Park and March comes in like a lion Kyōka Izumi, the editor of Rohan, is also back in the series as Marie Iitoyo (anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, City Hunter: Shinjuku Private Eyes).

The movie’s screenplays were once again written by Yasuko Kobayashi, the writer of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure anime, and will be directed by Kazutaka Watanabe (Only Yesterday live-action special). Additionally, the music will be composed by Naruyoshi Kikuchi (Mobile Suit Gundam Thunderbolt). Production coordinators Naoko Sait, Keisuke Tsuchihashi, and Sangkeun Han are joined by Isao Tsuge (Attack on Titan, Yatterman), who previously worked on character design. Actor Takahashi, who plays Rohan, said during the movie’s announcement that this movie can also be viewed as the “ninth episode” in the series. He also disclosed that they had concluded filming in Japan along with the two most recent episodes and were currently filming in France. The two most current episodes of the live-action series aired on December 26 and 27.

On the NHK General channel, the first three episodes made their debut in December 2020 over the course of three evenings. At the end of December 2021 for three nights straight, the second of the three episodes debuted. The first three episodes can be watched online at Retro Crush. In Shueisha’s Ultra Jump magazine in April 2022, the manga’s 11th tale, named “Dripping Gahō-hen” (Dripping Art Technique), made its debut. The second part of the narrative was published in May of the same year.

Two Thus Spoke Kishibe Rohan stories were adapted by the anime studio David Production and released as original anime DVDs. For those who acquired all 13 DVD or Blu-ray Disc volumes of the JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Diamond Is Unbreakable anime in 2017, the “Fugō Mura” (Millionaire Village) episode was made available. The second volume of the manga’s “Mutsukabezaka” (Mutsukabe Hill) episode was released in 2018 as a package. At its Crunchyroll Expo event in August 2019, Crunchyroll aired “Fug Mura,” which had its international premiere. Between December 2020 and March 2021, two more episodes were then created by the studio David Production, “Zange-shitsu” (Confessional Room) and “The Run,” which were screened nine times in six different Japanese cities. With Landon McDonald as the title character, Netflix started broadcasting the anime internationally in February 2021.

The 128-page Rohan at the Louvre full-colour manga was published by North American graphic novel publisher NBM Publishing in February 2012. NBM provides the following description of Rohan at the Louvre:

A stunning, enigmatic young woman with a compelling tale is met by Rohan, a young mangaka. When she notices him drawing, she tells him about a cursed 200-year-old picture that was created with the darkest ink ever recorded from a 1000-year-old tree that the painter had cut down without the Emperor’s permission and was then beheaded for. In the interim, a Louvre curator rescued the picture from being destroyed. As he becomes famous, Rohan forgets about this incident, but ten years later, while he is in Paris, he uses the chance to look for the picture. He doesn’t realise how violently potent the curse is until he forces the museum to retrieve it from the depths of its archive. The manga was first produced by Araki in 2009 for the exhibition “Cartoons – The Louvre Invites Comic-Strip Art” at France’s renowned Louvre art gallery.
