The LA Guerrillas have identified three key errors that were hindering players from achieving their full potential in Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play. The competitive scene for this popular game mode is intense, as players must work their way up the rankings after being reset to a lower division.

While professional Call of Duty League players initially dedicated a lot of time to the mode, their attention has since shifted to the final stages of the CDL season, leaving room for other players to potentially climb the ranks.

The current state of the Modern Warfare 2 Ranked Play leaderboard shows that only a handful of Call of Duty League professionals are ranked in the Top 250. This presents a unique chance for casual players to rise to the top, making it essential to utilize all available resources to gain an edge over competitors. To aid players in this pursuit, the LA Guerillas TikToker has shared several straightforward tips to improve gameplay and achieve success in Ranked Play.

How to improve Ranked Play in MW2?

The LA Guerrillas TikToker advised players to avoid using 120 FOV as it can make enemies appear too small, and instead suggested using 105 FOV. According to the TikToker, this makes it easier to control recoil and provides more aim assist, ultimately improving the player’s performance in MW2 Ranked Play.

In further explanation, the use of a high FOV causes the image to compress towards the center while stretching the peripheral view outward, resulting in objects appearing farther away from the player’s viewpoint. This distortion can make the aim assist appear less effective as it is calculated at a slower rate.

By narrowing the FOV, the aim assist hitbox becomes larger, which in turn makes the assist more effective and forgiving on inaccurate shots. This means that a smaller FOV can lead to more precise aiming and increased chances of hitting your target.

Stutter aim could help players

The next tip suggested by TikToker was to use the technique called “stutter aim”. When players aim down their weapon sights for too long, the gun starts to sway, affecting the accuracy of the first shot. The TikToker suggested rapidly aiming in and out to reduce the sway and improve the accuracy of the first shot.

The final tip advised by the TikToker is to make use of the left stick by pulling it down while aiming down sights. This technique helps maximize the aim assist by making the aim lock onto enemies more easily. For a more detailed explanation, JGOD has provided a comprehensive guide on how aim assist works in Modern Warfare 2.
