Recap of the Previous Chapter of Mercenary Enrollment

Mad Dog cautioned Ijin not to contact anyone; if he discovered Ijin had called for assistance, Mad Dog would kill Ijin’s grandpa and run away. He was instructed by Mad Dog to answer all calls from unfamiliar numbers as his grandfather would no longer be able to use the phone to contact him. After hanging up, he reminded Ijin to carefully follow directions and said he would send a message with his next task.

Ijin is Scared

Despite Mad Dog’s assurances, Ijin was ultimately responsible for the hostage’s fate. Ijin begged Mad Dog to let him listen to his grandfather’s voice. The request was flatly denied by Mad Dog, who pointed out that he was in no position to make such demands and warned that, henceforth, he would be required to do as he was told.

After inquiring about his sister, Mad Dog abruptly cut off communication. Ijin was frightened and tried calling Dayun repeatedly, but she did not answer. Ijin returned home to find Dayun’s phone on the floor and footprints throughout their apartment. A short while later, he got a location from Mad Dog via Dayun’s phone. He gave him 20 minutes to get there or the captive would be killed.

Mad Dog is watching every move

Ijin considered asking Koh for assistance, but he recalled Mad Dog’s threat that he would eliminate his family and vanish if he ever found someone to help him. Ijin knew Mad Dog had installed a tracking device on his phone, so he couldn’t bring himself to call Koh.

Ijin rode his bike there, so he could be on time. Mad Dog then called to inform him that Ijin wasn’t actually that late, thus his need for assistance had been well-timed. Ijin realized Mad Dog was keeping tabs on him and began to wonder if the dog had installed hidden cameras in strategic locations.
