In a recent report by the Times of India, the Madhya Pradesh sports department announced the launch of India’s pioneering ‘Online Gaming Academy,’ set to open its doors next month. This revolutionary gaming institution, known as the “MP State Esports Academy,” aims to provide aspiring gamers with the perfect platform to hone their skills. Additionally, the state has revealed its plans to organize the prestigious “MP State Junior Esports Championship” exclusively for BGMI players across Madhya Pradesh.
Scheduled to take place from July 27 to August 7, the MP Junior Esports Championship welcomes participants aged 12 to 17 to showcase their gaming prowess. For those eager to participate in this thrilling event, the registration process is now open, with aspiring players having until July 23 to sign up.
The Madhya Pradesh Department of Sports and Youth Welfare has devised an ingenious plan to identify and nurture top esports talents through the BGMI tournament. According to the registration guidelines, 80 percent of the available seats in the final selection are reserved for talented gamers hailing from Madhya Pradesh, while the remaining 20 percent will be open to players from other states across the country.
Selected esports athletes will receive “intensive coaching” and “top-quality esports education” during a comprehensive 12-month program, and the best part is—this extraordinary opportunity comes without any charge. While specific details regarding the “esports education” and the esteemed coaches involved remain undisclosed, rest assured that Madhya Pradesh is committed to bringing out the best in its esports stars.
Notably, the decision to organize an official BGMI tournament by a state government is intriguing, given the controversy surrounding the game’s provisional return after a ban. However, it aligns with Krafton’s confirmation that Indian gamers can qualify for the 2022 Asian Games through BGMI, a statement issued back in 2021.
