Live Team Liquid LCS roster News: Rumors, Reported Moves, And More :

Before getting into any of the alleged moves and rumors, it’s important to mention Liquid’s approach to its professional League of Legends program. About two months ago, after Liquid failed to qualify for Worlds 2022, co-CEO Steve Arhansht addressed fans. In that video, Arhanset expressed his desire to look inward at the organization and build a roster with more developmental pieces. In short, the “super team” model had not worked, for the Team Liquid Organisation .So going forward, the team plans to change its approach to building a better winning culture. Understanding the mindset of the organization going into the offseason gives fans an idea of what to expect.

Departures :

Let’s start with moves that are largely stone pelts. Liquid had to make some changes and the first exit came bottomside. Hans Sama, who moved to the LCS after a stellar 2021 campaign in the LEC, did not live up to expectations with Korjje. Liquid cut him loose shortly after the end of the season, allowing him to explore other options. Hans Sama is now set to return to the LEC with a new team at G2 Esports. It looks like Liquid has decided to purge all of its European imports.

Shortly after Hans Sama’s exit, a report from Brek Seeger claimed that Liquid is allowing top laner BvPo to explore his options for 2023. The future of BVPO is still very much up in the air. Some LEC fans have speculated that he might return to his roots with Fnatic, but nothing official has been announced regarding Bwipo’s future in the professional league.

CoreJJ staying with Team Liquid :

CoreJJ is currently the longest tenured member of a Liquid League team with 10 consecutive splits with the squad. Core’s status with the team was also very much in the air after Arhansett’s video. Rumors ran wild, with fans speculating that KorJJ was returning to Korea and making the sudden switch to 100 Thieves.Suspense finally broke five days ago when freelance journalist Brieck Seeger reported that CoreJJ had re-signed with Liquid for the 2023 season. This means that the face of Liquid will remain with the organization as a veteran for the roster going forward.

Bjergsen’s future :

Following the shortcomings of the 2022 Liquid “super team,” many people tried to figure out what went wrong behind closed doors. The biggest insight fans got from LCS insider Travis Gafford. Gafford said on his podcast, Hotline League, that he heard Korjje and Björgson don’t match well on the team. This has led many to speculate that the two may not want to play together for the upcoming split. With CoreJJ re-signing with the team, things get complicated for Liquid. CoreJJ was set to become a free agent before re-signing, but Bjergsen still has a year left in his deal with Liquid. If the rumors about issues with the two loudest voices in the team last year are true, what does Liquid do with Bjergsen and his contract?

The most spicy rumor brought to light by Gafford recently links another LCS heavy hitter to Bjergsen. Speculation looks to the next NA “Super Team” 100 Thieves, who are reportedly interested in bringing in Bjergsen along with former teammates Spica and Doublelift. 100T is potentially driving the 2020 TSM roster back so it will be interesting to see but still all speculation.

Team Liquid Academy promotions to LCS :

The LCS is entering an era of organizations building rosters from the ground up. With the recent success of Danny and JojoPyun of Evil Geniuses, many teams are looking to their academy for the future. Team Liquid Academy is arguably the most stacked roster at that level and is currently the defending Academy League champion. There are still other standouts on the Liquid Academy roster that could get a call-up. TLA’s early Eddie Carrie Sean “Yeon” Sung’s contract was extended until 2024 and could begin after Hans Sama’s departure.
