Due to creator Gege Akutami’s ill health, the official Twitter account for the Jujutsu Kaisen manga declared a one-week sabbatical yesterday. Akutami is thought to be on the mend right now. The break occurred in the middle of a highly anticipated chapter following the previous issue of the series. Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 179 release date announced, one week of hiatus for the series

This, as well as the state of the series and where it appears to be headed, will be examined in greater length below.

Follow along as this article delves into the news of Jujutsu Kaisen’s hiatus, its implications for serialisation, and why fans should be pleased to see Akutami putting her health first.

Jujutsu Kaisen Chapter 179 release date

The 178th issue of the Jujutsu Kaisen manga will be followed by a one-week sabbatical. The chapter was supposed to premiere this coming Sunday in Weekly Shonen Jump’s 15th 2020 issue, but it will now appear in the 16th issue the following Friday. The news was first reported by the official Jujutsu Kaisen manga Twitter account, which cited the original and first Japanese tweet from the series’ PR account. The pause is attributed to Akutami’s poor physical health in both tweets, with the latter highlighting that they have already began recovery measures.

Prior to this current instance, Akutami had gone on sabbatical in July 2021. The sabbatical lasted about a month, with Akutami citing their poor physical health as the cause for it at the time. Akutami was in good mental health and it was not a serious disease, according to the prior hiatus. Given that the presence of such elements was not mentioned, this is most likely the case here as well.

Jujutsu Kaisen chapter 179 spoilers

The delay in Yuta Okkotsu’s current struggle is without a doubt the single most significant impact on story progress. He is currently engaged in a three-way duel with two other sorcerers with amazing abilities.

Yuta had fought without his Cursed Spirit, Rika, during Chapter 177 since she was defending innocent citizens in a neighbouring stadium. However, having reached his breaking point, he called out to her in the previous chapter, requesting “all of [her]” to come to his assistance. This appears to imply that fans have not yet seen “all of” Rika.

Obviously, the already tense ending has become even more so, with spoiler information for Chapter 178 enticing readers even more. While fans may be disappointed by the abrupt break, they should be grateful that Akutami is putting their own health ahead of the tale.

In the wake of Kentaro Miura’s tragic death in May 2021, the extremely demanding prices of consistent serialization in the manga industry have been shoved into the spotlight. Other living mangaka, such as Hunter x Hunter’s Yoshihiro Togashi, further serve as examples of the pain which consistent drawing can bring into the author’s daily lives.

As a result, it’s incredibly understandable, appropriate, and proper for Akutami to prioritize their own health above the consistent serialization of the manga. While fans may be upset about waiting a week, it’s likely all would agree this is preferable to the series never being finished due to the author’s poor health.
