The author may have opted for easy satisfaction by having his or her characters perform the tired role of top dog and underdog.

Chapter 34 of Jinx picked up just where Chapter 33 left off. The kind of episode when everyone just kind of hangs out and nothing terrible happens to Kim Dan, the kind of episode we’ve all come to expect. There is a limit to how long this peace can last before something catastrophic happens.
In this episode, the dam finally gave way, leaving Kim Dan in the same situation he’d been in all along. The horror victim, however, was not our Doc this time around due to extenuating circumstances. On the contrary, it was Heesung who had to witness something so shocking that it left him in disbelief.
But one thing that hasn’t changed throughout the series is that Jaekyung is the catalyst for much of the trouble. And, as usual, he was the one who made the most of the situation to establish his authority. This time around, though, Jaekyung was taking further precautions to conceal his true motives from Kim Dan.
In Chapter 35 of Jinx, we should see how the three main characters react to the situation that Jaekyung generated from varying perspectives. Jaekyung effectively bought Kim Dan by footing the expense for his education, medical care for his grandma, and his ongoing wage. In earlier chapters, he would bring it up to one-up Kim Dan, but recently, that hasn’t been the case.
The newest installment doesn’t change the fact that it wasn’t Kim Dan he mentioned this to. His intended recipient of the news that Kim Dan was now his was Heesung. Jaekyung has made it clear that he is protective of his possessions and has never entertained the idea of sharing them. On the other hand, the story seems to be suggesting that his newfound admiration for the doctor brings them closer together.
