The COVID-19 pandemic has thrown the world into chaos, and doctors are trying to deal with the sudden influx of patients. A lack of doctors forces a young doctor-in-training named Hwang Gwangho to go to a remote area called “Mermaid Village” where he gets caught up in the chaos.
As Gwangho gets used to his new home, he runs into a beautiful haenyeo called Hyeyeon who is taking off her clothes on the beach. From that point on, their steamy and intense romantic relationship turns his once-normal life on its head. He is totally taken by the haenyeo’s beauty and sensuality and can’t stay away from her.
Gwangho learns more and more about the haenyeo society and way of life as he spends more time with Hyeyeon. He is surprised to find that seeing the haenyeos in their suits makes him feel a mix of desire and respect all the time.
At the beginning of the chapter, we find Seonjung Ajumma in a lighthearted disposition as she flirts with and teases Gwangho while the two of them enjoy some private time together. Gwangho, who is being held back by her, appears to be enjoying the individualized attention that he is getting at this moment.
Gwangho is oblivious to everything around him as Seonjung draws closer to him and continues to tease him with her seductive gestures as he is entirely absorbed in the present moment and relishing every morsel of pleasure. The sequence is rich in sensuality and fervor, holding the reader’s attention because of the connection between the two characters.

Even though there isn’t a lot of significant action in this chapter, the chemistry between Gwangho and Seonjung is still tangible, and it’s obvious that the two of them are getting closer to one another.
