Japanese manga artist Hiroyuki Takei, known for creating the hit series Shaman King, has been captivating fans with his latest project, Mini4King, since its launch in July 2021. The manga, which follows kids who race Laser Mini 4WD cars, has been a hit with readers and has now entered its final stage.

Mini4King Launch and Serialization

Takei and artist Yūki Imada created Mini4King, which was launched in Monthly Coro Coro Comics in July 2021. The manga ended its serialization in the magazine in November 2022 and continued on Weekly Corocoro Comic website on December 17. Tamiya also launched the mini car line in the same month.

The first volume of Mini4King was published in Japan in December 2021, with the third volume following in November 2022.

Hiroyuki Takei’s Other Works

Takei’s first manga with Kodansha, Nekogahara: Stray Cat Samurai, was released in the inaugural issue of Shonen Magazine Edge in September 2015 and ended in April 2018. Kodansha USA Publishing released the manga in English.

Shaman King Manga and Anime Adaptations

Takei’s most famous work, Shaman King, debuted in Shueisha’s Weekly Shonen Jump magazine in 1998. The series ended abruptly in 2004 but was reprinted with a “true ending” in 2009. The manga was published in English by Viz Media from 2003 to 2011, with digital versions now being published by Comixology Originals and Kodansha USA Publishing.

Shaman King has inspired a TV anime adaptation in 2001-2002, and a new anime adaptation of the complete edition premiered in April 2021 with 52 episodes, which was streamed worldwide by Netflix starting in August 2021. The anime adaptation of Shaman King Flowers is set to premiere in January 2024.
