The latest CS:GO update from February 2nd was a relatively small one, a patch that brought some optimizations to the Wingman maps Boyard and Chalice as well as Anubis. The maps are both new for CS:GO, so they are not perfect yet and more improvements are to come.Boyard noticed some improvement with clippers and a definite difference on a set of stairs. Chalice’s changes were slightly more substantial, reworking some art assets and lighting and adding callouts to the map. Valve has also improved interception on the map to improve performance. Fixes an issue with water on the Anubis optimization map causing a drastic drop in FPS, especially on lower-end PCs.

Valve has been characteristically quiet about its upcoming plans, though players keep speculating about potentially major updates coming to the game.One of the main pieces of CS: GO news fans continue to wait for a new operation. The last one, Operation Riptide, begins in September 2021, making 2022 the first year without an operation since 2018. Players can safely assume that not too far off, 2023 promises to be a big year for CS:GO with the pro scene bigger than ever.

Players continue to speculate over the highly anticipated Source 2 update, bringing the game to Valve’s new engine. Valve has never officially acknowledged the possibility of a CS:GO engine update, although their Source 2 port of Dota 2 gives players hope that CS:GO will receive the same treatment. With every update, players rush to the change log after years of waiting to see if it’s finally time. Until now, nada.
