Fans of anime can get excited for the upcoming television adaptation of Masakazu Ishiguro’s manga, Heavenly Delusion (Tengoku Dai Makyō), which is set to premiere on April 1, 2023. The good news is that Disney+ and Hulu have announced they will be streaming the anime simultaneously in the United States, making it accessible to millions of viewers. Reuben Lack, Disney’s senior manager of English dubbing, shared the news on Twitter and revealed that the anime will be dubbed in English at a later date.

What is Heavenly Delusion about?

The story is set in a world where robots raise children within the safety of walls. While the children’s lives may appear monotonous, they are full of potential and curiosity. In contrast, the outside world is a terrifying place full of supernatural creatures that have taken over. Maru, the protagonist of the story, is on a quest with his friend Kiruko to find a place they believe to be heaven. However, their search leads them to question whether heaven exists at all or is simply an untenable dream.

The Cast and Crew

The anime boasts an impressive cast, with Gen Sato playing Maru, Sayaka Senbongi as Kiruko, and Toshiyuki Toyonaga as Kona. The director, Hirotaka Mori, is known for his work on Joker Game and the Psycho-Pass film. Makoto Fukami, who worked on Psycho-Pass and School-Live!, oversees the series scripts, while Utsushita of Minakata Laboratory is the character designer. The anime’s music is composed by Kensuke Ushio, known for his work on Space Dandy, A Silent Voice, and Chainsaw Man.

Final Thoughts

Heavenly Delusion is set to be a thrilling and thought-provoking anime that explores the possibilities of a world where technology is limited and supernatural beings rule. Its premiere on Disney+ and Hulu will make it more accessible to anime fans in the United States. Fans of the manga should also look forward to seeing their favourite characters come to life on screen. With its talented cast and crew, and its compelling story, Heavenly Delusion is sure to be a hit.
