Dragons in Hearthstone Battlegrounds were struggling to find their place in the meta before the arrival of Season 4. Tarecgosa had been nerfed to Tavern Tier 4, and Kalecgos was unable to keep up with the other endgame builds. However, with the introduction of Season 4, Dragons have received much-needed support. The new Dragons are powerful in their own unique ways, and their inclusion in higher tiers opens up new possibilities for playing with this minion type. Let’s take a closer look at each new Dragon and rank them based on their effectiveness and potential impact. Hearthstone Battlegrounds: Every New Dragon from Season 4, Ranked.

1. Low-Flier

Low-Flier is an exceptionally intriguing minion. In the early game, its base attack of three provides a significant buff to most of your other minions, granting you a distinct advantage in the initial combats. The beauty of Low-Flier lies in its scalability. With just a little boost in attack, it can remain relevant throughout a significant portion of the game. One of the notable aspects of Low-Flier is that its effect isn’t limited to Dragons alone. You can use it to buff other minions with advantageous abilities, such as Divine Shield. Surprisingly, Low-Flier can even serve as the foundation for its own build, which is a rarity for a Tavern Tier 2 minion.

2. Upbeat Frontdrake

Upbeat Frontdrake is a valuable long-term asset. It provides you with free minions, which is a powerful effect. However, it does require waiting for three rounds before the effect kicks in. Although Dragons don’t gain substantial strength with each play like Elementals or Murlocs, Upbeat Frontdrake is still quite useful for acquiring triples, especially considering that the Golden version grants you two Dragons. It’s worth mentioning the synergy between Upbeat Frontdrake and the new Hero introduced in Season 4.

3. Electric Synthesizer

Electric Synthesizer may appear to be a straightforward minion, but its simplicity doesn’t diminish its value in the Tavern. Even without any synergy with other Dragons, the ability to grant four attack to multiple minions is highly advantageous. However, Dragons do possess numerous attack-based synergies. These include indirect combos like Nadina protecting high-attack, low-health minions with Divine Shield, as well as direct synergies with several other minions on this list. Electric Synthesizer also synergizes with Kalecgos through its Battlecry effect. Although not a build-around minion, Electric Synthesizer consistently enhances Dragon builds, regardless of the variant being played.

4. Sanctum Rester

During the midgame, an increase of eight health from Sanctum Rester holds considerable significance. The Golden version, providing 16 health, is even more impactful. As the game progresses, the importance of these stats gradually diminishes, but even in the late stages, the additional health can make a noticeable difference. Sanctum Rester also offers an alternative method of scaling Tarecgosa, a minion that retains buffs gained in combat. In Season 4, Tarecgosa has been moved back down from Tavern Tier 4 to 3, allowing it to come online earlier. The introduction of Sanctum Rester further facilitates its scaling potential.

5. Disco Shuffler

Disco Shuffler is a powerful card with versatility in many strategies. Builds that rely on Battlecries can greatly benefit from either of Disco Shuffler’s choices, such as Elementals with Tavern Tempest or Murlocs with Primalfin Lookout. Additionally, Disco Shuffler synergizes well with Dragon builds. Its first ability works effectively with Kalecgos, as the Tier 6 minion’s ability now triggers whenever a Battlecry activates, not just when played. Although Disco Shuffler itself is not a Battlecry minion, it provides a Battlecry minion for Kalecgos’ effect. Unfortunately, it cannot be doubled by Brann Bronzebeard, but the Battlecry triggered and the effects of the Shuffler’s created minions will still be doubled.
