Genshin Impact has taken the gaming world by storm with its immersive gameplay and engaging storylines. However, players have recently expressed their discontent with the game’s gacha system, particularly the 4-star pity system. In this article, we will discuss the issue at hand and explore some potential solutions that could make the game more enjoyable for players. Genshin Impact Fans Demand Changes to 4-Star Pity System.

What is 4-Star Pity System in Genshin Impact?

In Genshin Impact, players have the opportunity to acquire new characters and weapons through the game’s gacha system. The system works by allowing players to make wishes, which cost a certain amount of Primogems, the in-game currency. Each wish has a chance to drop a certain character or weapon, with higher rarities being harder to obtain.

The game’s Limited Character Banners typically consist of one 5-star character and three 4-star characters. While 5-star characters are the most desirable, they are also the hardest to acquire. On the other hand, 4-star characters are easier to obtain as they run on a 10-wish pity, which guarantees a drop within 10 wishes. However, when a cycle features two 5-star units, this pity is shared between the two banners.

The Issue with the 4-Star Pity System

While the 4-star pity system may seem like a fair deal for players, there is a major flaw in the way it works. The drop odds for 4-star characters are divided between the three featured characters, making it difficult for players to acquire a specific 4-star character they want. This can be especially frustrating for players who are looking to acquire a certain constellation level for a character that enhances their playstyle.

Players have taken to social media platforms like Reddit to voice their concerns. A Reddit user named HereForGames started a discussion on the official Genshin Impact subreddit that gained almost 12k upvotes. The post highlighted the flaws in the game’s gacha system, specifically when it comes to acquiring 4-star characters.

Solutions to the Problem

To address the issue, fans have proposed a couple of interesting solutions. One popular suggestion is for HoYoverse to implement a system similar to the Epitomized Path mechanic available on the Weapon Banner. This would allow players to target a specific 5-star weapon by using their Fate Points.

Under this system, players would receive Fate Points whenever they don’t get the desired 4-star character. Having a couple of these points would guarantee the next 4-star drop to feature their chosen character. Some fans have also suggested that this system would be great for the less popular Standard Banner since it’s almost impossible to acquire all constellation levels for a 5-star character from this banner.

Another solution proposed by fans is for the game to follow a similar pattern with their 4-star units as they do with their 5-star units. The constant addition of new 5-star characters in Genshin Impact with every new update has caused HoYoverse to feature double banners in every new update. Fans suggest that the game should do the same with their 4-star units, which would make it easier for players to acquire the specific character they want.
