Garena has actually acknowledged India’s eagerly awaited Free Fire player base. Wasif Ahmed of Dot Esports received a statement from Garena. Garena is aware of the matter and is working to resolve it, according to this statement. What is to be noticed is that, no mention of the Indian government’s restriction on Free Fire. Garena talks about current play store situation in India, no mention of Free Fire ban or when Free Fire comes back

The Indian government took a major step today, banning a total of 54 apps across the country. Free Fire was listed in a list of apps that was revealed. The major goal of this ban wave, according to reports, was to eliminate any “app clones” of previously prohibited apps, but Free Fire was included as well.

Another game called Onmyoji Arena was included in the list of apps. The game was removed from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store before the restriction was even announced. Players have also had login troubles, and the store currently only has Free Fire Max.

Garena Addressed Free Fire Unavailibility On App Stores

It reads, “We are aware that Free Fire is currently unavailable in the Google Play and iOS app stores in India and that the game is currently not operable for some users in the country. We are working to address this situation, and we apologize to our users for any inconvenience.”

Free Fire Ban under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act

MeitY banned these apps under Section 69A of the Information Technology Act, which states that the government has the  “Power to issue directions for interception or monitoring or decryption of any information through any computer resource.” This is usually when the government is “satisfied that it is necessary or expedient to do in the interest of the sovereignty or integrity of India, defence of India, security of the State, friendly relations with foreign States or public order or for preventing incitement to the commission of any cognizable offence relating to above or for investigation of any offence.”
