Emotions were running high in Chapter 114 of “From Dreams to Freedom” as Jung-min and Siyoon faced their worst horrors in a dream. The previous episode left us hanging with the two friends stuck in a dream realm filled with terrible monsters and enemies.
Jung-min had to face his claim doubts after having a nightmare about them. The fact that his greatest fantasy adversary, Ha Joo-hyun, mocked him for being helpless and pitiful only added insult to injury. In this dreamscape, Jung-min’s worst nightmares came true. Conversely, Siyoon recalled distressing memories from her own past.
The horrible dream she had brought back unpleasant memories of her father’s abuse and her mother’s abandonment. Despite the couple’s best efforts, they ended up in a terrible situation in the dream world.
Ha Joo-hyun, as all this was happening in the dream world and monsters and adversaries were closing in, was at home cunningly devising a strategy.
After he solved the mystery of Jung-min and realized that different dreams affected him, he was able to overcome his anger and dissatisfaction. When Ha Joo-hyun suspected Siyoon, he spoke up for himself.
Readers were on edge after Ha Joo-hyun’s revelation that he had a crush on Siyoon. To make the struggle more personal, he also pledged to cut Siyoon off from him and expose Jung-min. Because of this, a fight between two of the main characters was a welcome addition to the story.
The narrative thickens when Jung-min and Siyoon become entangled in a nightmare in which their worst fears are realized. While Jung-min is forced to face a helpless version of himself, Siyoon is compelled to relive painful experiences from her past. They might as well be living a nightmare. Meanwhile, there’s a guy named Ha Joo-hyun who doesn’t like Jung-min very much.
After learning that Jung-min uses dreams to cope with his emotions, he decides to tell everyone at school. Unfortunately, Ha Joo-Hyun revealed his identity at around the time he was able to enter Jung-min’s dreams and exert influence over them. It’s just like someone breaking into your house, and that’s not cool at all.
