On Friday, The Pokémon Company announced four additional cast members for the upcoming Pokémon anime. These new characters are members of the “Rising Volteckers” group, led by Professor Friede, who uses an airship as their headquarters. Ayane Sakura and Kenta Miyake are among the newly revealed cast members. The newly formed cast members are here (in order of appearance in the above video, character name spellings not confirmed)

• Ayane Sakura as Orio, who likes mechanical things (partner Pokémon: Metagross)

• Kenta Miyake as Murdock, who is good at cooking (partner Pokémon: Iwanko/Rockruff)

• Kei Shindou as Molly, a medical specialist (partner Pokémon: Lucky/Chansey)

• Ikkyuu Juku as Randoh, who appears to be a fisherman

The highly anticipated Pokémon anime is set to debut on April 14th, and fans are eagerly awaiting the arrival of its new cast members. The anime will star Minori Suzuki as Liko and Yuka Terasaki as Roy, with Taku Yashiro taking on the role of Professor Friede, and Ikue Ōtani returning as the beloved Captain Pikachu.

The series will be directed by Saori Den, who previously worked on “Mirage Queen Prefers Circus,” and creative direction will be handled by Daiki Tomiyasu, known for his work on “Pokémon Sun & Moon” and “Pocket Monster Mezase Pokémon Master.” Dai Sato, a renowned writer who has worked on classics like “Eureka Seven,” “Wolf’s Rain,” “Samurai Champloo,” and “Cowboy Bebop,” will be overseeing the series’ scripts. The action-packed series will also feature Tetsuo Yajima as the action director, Rei Yamazaki as the character designer, and Kyōko Itō as a sub-character designer. The sound direction will be handled by Masafumi Mima, and Conisch will be composing the music.

The first episode of the anime will be a one-hour special, airing on Friday evenings at 6:55 p.m. The Pokémon Company has stated that the series will premiere in 2023 “and beyond,” and fans can expect to see some exciting new characters and legendary Pokémon in this latest iteration. The new cast members will include the previously announced characters Sprigatito, Fuecoco, and Quaxly from the “Pokémon Scarlet” and “Pokémon Violet” video games. The Legendary Pokémon Rayquaza will also make an appearance in its Shiny form, and fans can look forward to the debut of the new characters Friede and Captain Pikachu, who will fight alongside Liko and Roy on their journey.

The popular Pokémon anime series, originally titled Pocket Monster, premiered on TV Tokyo and its affiliates in Japan back in November 2019, just two days after the worldwide release of the highly anticipated Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield games. In the United States, the first 12 episodes of the series were made available on Netflix in June 2020, with new episodes being added on a quarterly basis. The series also aired on the Canadian television channel Teletoon starting in May 2020.

The localized version of the anime, titled Pokémon Journeys: The Series, consisted of 48 episodes. However, the series continued on with Pocket Monster’s 49th episode, which premiered in Japan in December 2020. The 25th season of the Pokémon anime, titled Pokémon Ultimate Journeys: The Series, began streaming on Netflix on October 21, with 11 special episodes under the title Pocket Monster Mezase Pokémon Master serving as the “final chapter” for Ash and Pikachu, bringing the long-running series to a satisfying conclusion.

Fans have enjoyed following the adventures of Ash and Pikachu throughout the years, and the Pokémon anime continues to captivate audiences worldwide with its engaging characters, thrilling battles, and heartwarming moments. The series has become a beloved part of the Pokémon franchise, and its legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of fans for years to come.
