EA Sports FC 24 allows users to indulge in a variety of activities within the game. It goes beyond playing your team to victory, as the latest version provides an opportunity to help gamers go in-depth with their tactics. The one released in 2023 is the first game of the new football series following its split from FIFA. There was a lot of excitement in the air before its release. While some were satisfied with the new changes, others felt more could have been done.

Either way, EA Sports FC 24 offers its gamers plenty to do on and off the pitch. This version allows a user to determine at the start of a career mode season which tactic they want their team to use. As per the users’ wish, the training drills are set and based on the squad balance, the number of coaches can also be selected. The higher the ratings, the better players’ development would be over the course of the season.

What is Gegenpressing?

It is a style that became popular during Ralf Rangnick’s rise in the game. The 65-year-old German became popular while using this style of play and enjoyed massive success in his coaching days. This tactic revolves around players quickly closing down the opponents with intense high pressing and counter-pressing. They try to win the ball back quickly after losing it. When in possession, the players try to play as many vertical passes as possible and be effective in attacking transitions.

What are the best formations for Gegenpressing tactics?

Formation – 4-1-4-1

This formation allows users to have a sufficient number of players in central and wide areas of the pitch. Apart from the standard four players at the backline, there will also be a holding midfielder sitting in front of them to provide defensive cover. He will be ably supported by two narrow midfielders. Alongside them would be two wide midfielders, instead of two wingers. It allows the team to have better balance and provide sufficient defensive cover. Having a pacy player up front as the lone striker could help well with this tactic.

Team Width: 40-50

Depth: 65-80

Offensive Width: 60-80

Formation – 4-3-3

This is one of the most commonly used formations in the game. It is not that different from a 4-1-4-1. The notable difference is how the wide players are used in this setup. In a 4-1-4-1, they operate as wide midfielders to provide better midfield balance and defensive cover. However, in a 4-3-3, they operate as out and out wingers and provide better support to lone striker up front. There are different variations to the 4-3-3 and they are all effective in maintaining possession and quick attacking transitions.

Offensive Width: 60-80

Formation – 4-3-2-1

There is not much difference between this formation and the previous two. All three have a flat back four and a narrow midfield three, allowing them to maintain the possession well. The main difference is seen in how the front players are used. In 4-3-2-1, there will not be wingers or wide midfielders. Instead, it will be three strikers. One out and out target man and two inverted strikers – one on each flank. If pacy forwards are used in those two inverted striker roles then the team can enjoy a lot of joy behind the defensive line.
