Aaditya “Dynamo” Sawant, the creator of Hydra Esports, recently disclosed that the organisation has long since closed its bootcamp, citing his workload as the main cause. Also, he brought up concerns about the productivity of the creators and the high cost of conducting the bootcamp, which involved renting a sizable villa, paying for energy, and constructing PCs for each creative. Dynamo detailed all the duties and costs involved in managing a bootcamp and said that the management made the decision to close the bootcamp as a group. Dynamo Explains Why Hydra Esports Bootcamp Is Being Shut Down.

Why Hydra Esports shut down its bootcamp is explained by Dynamo.

In November 2021, Hydra Esports revealed its $1,000,000 INR gaming facility. A spectator of a recent livestream questioned Dynamo about the company’s bootcamp because no content producers could be observed broadcasting from there. In response, Dynamo disclosed that the company had long since closed its bootcamp. “The bootcamp has been terminated, which is the thing. The bootcamp was terminated long ago. We shut down the bootcamp five or six months ago,” he added.

Dynamo claimed that he had a heavy workload and that this was the main factor in closing the bootcamp. To be honest, I was carrying all the burden when the bootcamp was shut down. Many artists were working and many others were not; many of them were being slothful. Several artists were getting up at three or four in the afternoon. We could not permit it, and I was unable to take all of those items, he said.

Dynamo also indicated that the cost of running the bootcamp was a key consideration in addition to the productivity issues. “Everything fell on me, and the cost of bootcamp was enormous. You are aware of the size of our bootcamp. It was an enormous 8–9 BHK (Bedroom, Hall, and Kitchen) villa. And its rent—just try to fathom how much it cost. In addition, the light (electricity) bill used to be very expensive,” he said.

He continued by stating that it takes a lot of time and effort to successfully operate a bootcamp, like “running an entire village, running an entire city.” “I’m confident that everyone who manages a bootcamp would concur that doing so is similar to, say, managing a whole village or city. It is a significant event, he said.

From breakfast to lunch to snacks to dinner, he added, “You have to take care of the groceries, meals and take care of everyone’s health.” “If something is not hindered, you must take care of it. All the arrangements were done by us.

He emphasised that managing a bootcamp involves close attention to detail and the capacity to take on a variety of duties. Every area of the boot camp needs careful administration and oversight, from the food and consumables to the health and safety of the participants. “We organised everything. Because it was someone else’s property and we couldn’t destroy it, certain items were late, but we arranged it later. All these things are challenging. The full burden was on me, I continued.

The costs of running a bootcamp, as Dynamo said, can be prohibitively high, with fees ranging from rent to energy to maintenance. Furthermore, the burden for handling all of these components landed on his shoulders, putting him under considerable strain. “Therefore we decided to take a break,” he explained. “We decided as a group to take a break and then work on getting back on track. And then, if it is possible, we will consider bootcamp again because there is only so much I can do.”

It is unknown whether Hydra Esports will open another bootcamp anytime soon. But, with an esports portfolio that includes Battlegrounds Mobile India (BGMI) and New State Mobile, as well as plans to add additional content creators, the organisation may need to organise a bootcamp.
