Counter-Strike:GO seems like it’s about to get one of the biggest updates in a short span of time.
Source 2 is potentially a few weeks away, as per many reports floating around the esports scene. Counter-Strike:GO seems like it’s about to get one of the biggest updates in a short span of time. Source 2, if it arrives, could have the potential to change the game as we know it totally.
There have been rumors about a change for the past few years, and the latest news surrounding NVIDIA drive updates and hints scattered throughout files deep in the game’s code suggests its finally here.
Source 2 is said to hit the game at the end of March 2023. Since we’ve already a week into March, we haven’t got much time to prepare ourselves for CS:GO 2’s upcoming launch.

Source 2 is the engine created by Valve in 2014, which has already been implemented in titles including Dota 2 and Half-Life: Alyx. The engine provides the framework that determines how a game looks and feels like, which means CS:GO might witness a major face-lift or an overhaul if the rumored sequel is actually staged on the company’s flagship engine.
As per veteran journalist Richard Lewis, Source 2 is on the verge of launch in a beta form, maybe even as soon as the end of the month. Sources close to Lewis confirmed that the title would be 128 tick, similar to its competitor Valorant.
These official 128-tick servers would significantly impact third-party servers such as FACEIT and ESEA, which offer a smoother experience. This, coupled with a better match-making system, will amplify the user experience.
Whether the game will completely take over the whole of CS:GO as a new entity or not is yet to be confirmed by Lewis or any other insider. The game could have completely mechanical changes that could impact the game’s competitive scene for good, like when Counter-Strike: Souce switched to Global Offensive.
