Ko Yamori is a depressed middle schooler who has a hard time appreciating the little things in life and has trouble understanding love. Because of this, he loses faith in education and quits going to class. In fact, he starts to have trouble sleeping due to his lack of exercise and starts to wander the empty streets late at night.
During one of his nightly adventures, Ko encounters a girl named Nazuna Nanakusa. She offers to help Ko out and invites him to her apartment, where they wind up sharing a futon, in an effort to win him over. However, when he attempts to drift off to sleep, Nazuna exposes her vampire nature by biting him. She then proceeds to inform Ko of all the advantages of being a nightwalker.
Ko also decides to become a vampire, escaping the boredom of mortal life. However, the only certain method to become a vampire is to have a loved one bite you. Developing romantic feelings for Nazuna is a prerequisite for Ko to become a vampire. As Ko encounters a peculiar array of supernatural beings on his quest, the two become closer as the anime progresses.
Kotoyama is the mastermind behind Call of the Night, a vampire fantasy manga. In July 2022, the first season of the adaption arrived for the series. Producing the animation was Liden Films.
Not only that, but in 2023, it took home the 68th Shogukan Award for best Shonen manga. Lots of people really enjoyed the first season of Call of the Night, so they’re eagerly anticipating the second.
Liden Films might return to produce season 2, or they could find another studio. There has been no decision on the streaming platforms either. However, it will likely be available on YouTube’s Hidive and Muse Asia sites.
